Anything you lose when you stand up for yourself, protect your boundaries and begin to grow, was not meant to stay.
I recently received this WhatsApp wisdom and thought – this is something to share. One cannot grasp the whole meaning of this powerful truth by reading it a few times.
We don’t like losing anything – be it people or possessions, we want to cling to what we have. However, sometimes a loss could be a good thing, making our burden lighter.
Standing up for oneself is always a way of protecting your boundaries or that which is essential to you. Why are we scared to stand up for ourselves? Often it is because we are afraid to become unpopular or the odd one out. We all know that a fear of rejection is a human reaction we all have to face.
We forget that not standing up for ourselves means sacrificing our values and principles. Granted, you might have to risk a moment of awkwardness or an uneasy silence. You might also lose a fan or two – but this is a low price to pay for the ultimate gain: your growth and authenticity.
For all you know, what you have lost while making your stand, might have been a burden which was not meant to stay. Don’t be surprised if you feel lighter, relieved and empowered afterwards!
