One of the perks of our present inter-connectedness is that we all receive an abundance of information and ideas. At times I feel slightly inundated by all the WhatsApps and links to the educational material and life tips.

But the following quote stopped me dead in my tracks and got me thinking:

Every next level of your life will demand a different version of you.

I read and re-read this life truth and thought – how apt! For now, for today, and certainly for tomorrow’s challenges.

We somehow take life’s stages and our circumstances for granted, until we are forced to challenge our comfort zones. Even though we know that things cannot stay the same, that we grow older every day, we do not reckon with the fact of change.

Yes, we know many clichés about change: that those who adapt best to change, are the survivors; that change is the law of life and the only fact we can be sure of. I have heard someone say that those who look only to the past and even the present are sure to miss the future.

Change is intrinsically linked to growth. I believe that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude. I also believe that thoughtful and committed individuals can make an impact on lives and to some extent change the world we live in.

People’s success stories go hand in hand with adapting, changing, and being willing to undergo an inner transformation.

The virtual life lesson I received this morning made me realise that the time has come for stock-taking. Am I at the next level of my life? For sure! Are there new demands placed on me? Of course, and what a marvellous challenge this is!

“One can choose to go back toward safety or forward toward growth,” I read somewhere.

It suddenly dawned on me how much I have changed in the last few months. I have indeed become a different version of myself. And this gives me goosebumps!
